Cactus garden in front of a weathered wood fence topped with Ninja Deterrent™ Classic short black Dual-bladed spikes — Hatteras St, Los Angeles

A cactus-forward garden and Ninja Deterrent™ Classic short black Dual-bladed create layered natural + architectural security.

Context & Location

On a quiet residential block of Hatteras St, the homeowner wanted discreet, maintenance-light perimeter protection that would suit a drought-tolerant garden. The existing cedar fence had character and patina; any upgrade needed to respect the natural look while raising the climbing resistance.

Design & Installation

We installed Ninja Deterrent™ Classic short black Dual-bladed B continuously along the top edge of the wood fence. The compact, dual-row geometry reads as a thin shadow line above the pickets, keeping the fence’s rustic texture front and center. Set behind a composition of Opuntia (paddle cactus) and fan palms, the result is a calm but effective natural + mechanical deterrent.

Ninja Deterrent™ Classic short black Dual-bladed follows the fence line cleanly; the matte black finish keeps reflections minimal.

The spike line reads as a slender architectural cap—present, but not overpowering.

  • Powder-coated black for durability and low visual glare.

Design Perspective

This project shows how perimeter defense can remain quiet and contextual. The spike line acts as a minimal cap, while the garden’s cacti add a soft biophilic buffer that also discourages access. Together they achieve security through design, without resorting to visually harsh solutions.
